Reviews Overview

Most Liked

The portions stand out, with diners often remarking on their generous size that ensures full satisfaction. The lamb shank is a highlight, celebrated for its tender flavor, which evokes a depth of traditional Somali cuisine. The cosy atmosphere boasts a homely vibe that encourages relaxed dining, whether alone or with family. Diners enjoy the hospitable service that makes every guest feel valued. Desserts like the date cake receive rave reviews, providing a perfect sweet ending to a flavorful meal. The affordability of the menu, with most items priced between £10 to £20, makes it a great choice for those looking for both quality and value.

Most Disliked

Some diners express disappointment in the limited menu options, particularly during off-peak hours when certain dishes may not be available. Although they often run out of items like chicken suqaar or chapati, the quality of the remaining offerings tends to compensate for this shortfall. The restaurant can get busy during peak times, especially on Tuesdays at 5 PM, which may lead to a wait for seating. During those hours, the small size of the restaurant can make it feel crowded. Customers sometimes mention a desire for a wider variety of breakfast items, noting that only a handful of dishes are available before midday.

This was my first time trying Somali food and the whole experience was great! The lamb and beef were so flavoursome and tender. The host was very friendly and great at explaining what items on the menu were. Will definitely be going back! Highly recommend!

It was our first time trying Somalian cuisine and we were pleasantly surprised. We were actually there to go to the Nepalese restaurants but they were both closed so we stumbled into this place. It was after 3pm so after the usual lunch rush and before dinnertime. The place isn't too big and had a couple of other customers. We were handed the menu which was quite small, especially as they weren't serving breakfast all day, it meant there was only about 5 or 6 dishes to choose from. I chose the chicken suqaar and my partner chose the beef suqaar but unfortunately, they said that they didn't have anymore of the chicken suqaar so I got the chicken leg instead. We also ordered a couple of beef samosas (they'd ran out of the chicken) and a Somalian tea. They also said they'd ran out of the chapatis. The dish came fairly quickly and it was a big portion. A lot of flavourful rice, a side salad, as well as the main meat. They also gave us a couple of chilli sauces to add to the dish and overall, we were very pleasantly surprised. The whole dish was full of flavour and the meat was very tender. It tasted delicious on its own but adding the extra sauces also added another layer of flavour which was nice. The beef samosas were brought out a bit after and we could tell they were very freshly fried. The samosa was crispy and the minced beef inside had a good taste to them. My partner also liked the tea which was warm and sweet. Overall, we enjoyed the meal a lot and has inspired us to try more Somalian dishes. I couldn't finish all of my food but they gave us a takeaway box. The meal came to around £20 in total for both of us so very good value.

Excellent food and lovely interior, I got the chicken Suqaar with rice (soup included) and a drink for only £9. Portions are generous and food was tasty. Inside the restaurant it's very clean and the decorations are lovely. Service was quick and there is no service charge! No wonder this place has so many positive reviews.
